ANZAC DAY celebrations
Saturday 25th April Mornington
ANZAC Day is held annually on 25th April. It is a National Day of Remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, commemorating those that served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. It marks the Anniversary of the 1915 Gallipoli landing, the first major military action for ANZAC forces.
Attending the 6am ANZAC service in Mornington on April 25th was probably the highlight of the year for me. Linda Power, Marie Ritchie and myself enjoyed the fabulous service, with Jennifer and Peter Cuthbert also in attendance. On the following Sunday, MPPC held their own mini-service, paying tribute to the brave that have fallen. With the 'Last Post, the Ode, a minute silence and a cup of 'gunfire'. Greg Power President
